What's in a place?

As many of you know, the East Coast Party Band was named and honored back in June as the official Ambassador's for the beautiful town of Mt. Pleasant SC. The band has been based in Mt Pleasant since it's inception and is home to alot of the members of the band. We certainly ALL spend a considerable amount of time here and all of us really enjoy Mt Pleasant. As I was thinking this weekend, we spend alot of time pumping the band and what we are doing but really, never letting anyone in on the secrets of Mt Pleasant, our HOME town! As Ambassador's, we just gotta do better than this................. so I thought I would "hip" everyone to a little Mt Pleasant information in today's blog.

Mt Pleasant neighbors the beautiful and old historic Charleston SC here on the Atlantic Ocean ( this is for those international peeps who tune in as much or more than our American audience!) Theres a huge bridge that connects Charleston to Mt Pleasant called the Ravenel Bridge and it provides lots of exercise by way of walking, jogging for those that enjoy that sorta thing. (not I said the cat!)

In the spring, there is a marathon that is held called the bridge run and people from everywhere come to run in it. Very cool for those interested; once again....not for me! Mt Pleasant borders two barrier islands that hold tourist and historic interest.

Sullivans Island is a beautiful little "village type" island that promotes tourism and the history of Fort Moultrie. Fort Moultrie was a key to defeating the British during the revolutionary war. [not rubbing it in our British friends face....but just giving some info! ;) ]

The Isle of Palms also borders Mt Pleasant and is a bustling little island promoting tourism and vacationland!! ( now with all of that said..... I love walking the beaches there in the afternoons.....there is a very good chance you might see me there after 5pm lots of days!)

Mt Pleasant kinda serves those islands as being a municipality of amenities. There are shopping malls, tons of restaurants, financial centers, an occasional night spot (Budiroe's...one of our favorites!), nice homes and people. According to our friend, Gary Santos, who coincidentally is running for Mayor santosformayor.com, Mt Pleasant "has it all". The East Coast Party Band plays for the Blessing of the Fleet celebration each year in April which garners approximately 10,000 or more people for the event and later on July 4, we play for the Patriots Point Fourth of July Celebration which garners over 30,000 people at this event. If you are looking for a great place to vacation, visit, hang-out, see the party band, golf, kite-surf, relax or just do nothing, this is your place to be. Mt Pleasant certainly in our opinion IS THE PLACE TO BE! Feel free to join us anytime and hopefully should you decide to make the trip, we will be playing and available to you. Until the next time........ keep putting 10 pounds of party in a 5 pound bag!!
