Our 20th summer together!!!!!

Wow! What a great start to the summer of 2012 for the ECPB! In addition to some great private parties and wedding receptions, we also headlined the Rice Festival in Walterboro where we have so many great friends. They always come out and party with us every time we play there! THANK-YOU SO MUCH! A special shout out to one of our favorites, Mr. Herman “Bottom End” Hoffman!!! When he sings “Under the Boardwalk”, it’s waaaaay under! We love you Herman!! Thanks for helping us play it just like the original!!

We also headlined - for the 19th straight year! - one of the biggest and best parties in Mt. Pleasant and an ECPB FAVORITE – The Blessing of the Fleet! We had 10,000+ Party Band Fans there and an absolutely beautiful day under the new Ravenel Bridge at Waterfront Park. We are the Official Ambassadors of Mt. Pleasant, SC (and darn proud of it!) and just love our hometown fans!!! There was shaggin’ and dancin’ and shrimp eatin’ and partyin’ all over the place! The Fleets were blessed for safe voyages and bountiful harvest of the best shrimp in the world – local South Carolina shrimp – an ECPB favorite!

And then we played for what may be the best college party we’ve ever played for!! The College of Charleston’s “A Charleston Affair 2012”! What a beautiful setting on campus under the oaks with 3500+ dancin’ and partyin’ the night away. What a party! What an event! Thank you guys for having us back again this year! We loved it and we had a BALL!!! Sorry we had to stop the music at 10pm but that’s the LAW for outside parties in that area of Charleston…we’d have played all night (or at least another set or two!!) with a crowd like that!! A special shout out to invited guest artist of the ECPB - Rapper Tim!!! YO! YO!! You rock’d da house BOYEEE! J

We’re really looking forward to seeing a lot of you over the summer as we are headlining these events and hope you will come out and help us put 10 pounds of party in a 5 pound bag!! The North Charleston ArtsFest; the benefit for the Charleston 9; the Watermelon Festival in Hampton; the Shag and Drag in Bluffton; the Friends of Santa Anniversary event; the Endless Summer event in Camden; and the Fish and Shag event at Bay Park at Edisto Beach in addition to the special wedding receptions were are always so proud to play! Check out our Calendar for dates, locations and times.

Remember, the ECPB not only loves to play the big festivals and corporate events, we also play 30 to 40 wedding receptions each year ranging from small intimate receptions to big events of over 1000! Our digital PA and light show is scalable and we can easily adapt to small venues or the largest banquet halls. Our Professional Sound Engineers know how to make our band sound great regardless of the venue and our Logistics team is probably the most flexible you will ever find! From booking to load-in through the performance to load-out, we want working with the ECPB to be the very best experience you’ve EVER had!

This year is the East Coast Party Band’s 20th Anniversary Year and we’d like to say THANK YOU to all of our fans across the southeast and across the world via the internet and the many internet radio stations that play our music! We’ve had the privilege and pleasure to play for you guys from Virginia to Florida and everywhere in between. We’ve had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the greats like The Four Tops; Delbert McClinton; The Chairman of the Board; and many, many others. We’ve released 2 CD’s and are now working on our 3rd release. We’ve had chart-topping beach tunes and have even been named Official Ambassadors! It’s been quite a ride and we appreciate it sooooo very much but we ain’t done yet!!! Heck! We just bought a brand new truck so look for us as you travel this summer!!! You’ll see all of us lookin’ back at you and you will know what kind of show to expect from the East Coast Party Band….one you will never forget!

We love ya!

It's gonna be a Super, Super Summer!!

Hey ECPB fans!!! It really is gonna be a Super Super Summer for the East Coast Party Band! We are playing a lot of festivals, dances, weddings, and other events throughout the Southeast and we sure hope that we will get to see each and every one of you soon. Check out our Calendar and make plans today to come out and see us when we play near you! We played yesterday for the Big Moooovement at beautiful Brittlebank Park in Charleston, SC. This was a fund raising event for Windwood Family Services and we sure appreciate them asking us to be a part of it. Fowler’s Mustache, one of our favorite groups, took the stage to start it all off and they were fantastic!! The ECPB is gonna keep an eye on you guys!!! ?

Be on the lookout for the brand new ECPB Truck!!! (Yeah – our old truck couldn’t quite get out of the way of an errant driver so it has gone to band truck heaven….or so we hope! ?) You can’t help but spot the new truck – it has some great actual photos of the band with a background of an actual South Carolina Lowcountry Sunset! We hope you like it! Honk at our Road Crew (who we appreciate sooooooooo much!) when you see it!!

We continue to work on our 3rd CD - we’ve got a couple of tunes in the bag and will be starting a few more soon. We think it will be our best yet!! We’re also working on some brand new shaggin and dancing tunes for the summer and even have some cool new outfits we might throw at ya! (Hey…they had a sale at K-market and at Supa Bad and we just couldn’t help ourselves!!) Hey Brides….we will definitely try to coordinate with your wedding colors if we can so just ask about that when you talk with Jack or Mark about booking. It’s your Special Day and we want to do everything we can to make it the absolute best wedding reception you or any of your guests have ever been to! We play a lot of weddings so be sure to call us early. We have some weddings booked over a year in advance!

Wow! There is sure a lot happening in the ECPB world and the summer looks super but before we close this blog today we want to say thank you to all the Beach Music DJ’s that play our music at the shag clubs and at their dances, on the air live and on their webcasts…thank you! We really appreciate this! It’s a thrill for each of us to be listening to all the great R&B and Shag artists and then hear an ECPB tune pop up! We’ve got some new stuff comin so “Hold On”!!

We sure hope to see each of you soon and so much appreciate your support of "The Official Ambassadors of Mt. Pleasant, SC"

Pleasant, (and damn proud of it!) it's only right that we'll be there again this year putting "10 lbs of party in a 5 lb bag!" We sure hope you'll come out and support our Shrimpers and party with the ECPB! Hey...bring your sunscreen 'cause it's always hot and sunny and bring your dancing shoes - or just kick your shoes off and go crazy! We only have a few "public appearances" around the Mt. We also want to remind our fans that we will be back again this year on June 24 headlining the Watermelon Festival in Hampton, SC! It's always a great big party under the stars and we're always excited about playing for some of the best folks on the planet! The ECPB has lots of personal ties to Hampton, Walterboro and that entire area so y'all come out and party with us! We always have our Gerald with us anywhere we go but when we play in Hampton and Walterboro, he's just a little coser to us...

Pleasant Waterfront Park - The Blessing of the Fleet!! Since we are the "Official Musical Ambassadors of Mt. Pleasant/Charleston area ths summer so we hope to see you there.

It is definitely Wedding Season and the ECPB is looking forward to performing for 13 Receptions over the summer from Charleston to Atlanta to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and one at a Farm up in Kershaw County! First off, thanks to all the Brides and Grooms and their families that have asked us to perform on this most special occasion. It is truly an honor for us to be asked and we will do out best to make this a magical night that you will never forget.

Ya know...it just doesn't matter if we are playing a wedding reception for 200 people or playing a festival for 30,000 - It's just too cool to see y'all out there dancing and shaggin' and smilin' and laughin'. That's why we do this thing called the East Coast Party Band....when we see the smiles and hear the laughs and and you guys clap and cheer 'cause you liked it...that's what it's all about for us!

See you guys soon!

Past Couple Weeks

Well People, Things have just been crazy! The Party Band started back up after our Summer Hiatus! The Friends of Santa show was just great. Such a good cause and lots and lots of friends there. We always look forward to playing that one. Please make your plans for next year as it traditionally occurs towards the end of July first of August time period.
We played for the Rockville Regatta and thats yet another one that is just the best. We always look forward to that one too as we get to see a different demographic of fans and friends. A much younger crowd and different area........but don't let that fool you, they were on fire! SUch a great time and thanks to everyone that puts that dance on each year. You guys do a great job of being good sports, being tolerant and having some of the best security we see every year.
We played the next Friday for the Charleston area Gamecock Club. WOW!! Had a great time and good to see all of our Gamecock people too. We look forward to this one every year and as usual, the crowd was just wonderful. Good Luck this year with all of the USC sports teams!
We played this past Saturday for a birthday party out on Kiawah Island and while it was hot, the crowd was great. Dr. Nelson, congratulations and thanks for a wonderful time. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Let's do it again.....way before another 50 years go by!

We with the Party Band are so lucky to be able to perform for so many people every year and share our music with everyone. Thanks to all of you who continue to support the group and we will continue to hone our music and show for you guys!

4th of July at Mt.Pleasant's Waterfront Park

Well, it's been quite awhile since I wrote a blog and feel like its time to get back to this. Since the last blog we have played a TON of jobs and we have had lots of things happening. On one job, we had the Legendary John Barker play keys and sing with us as he filled in for David Fuller. We also had Mark Stanley, a very talented guitarist and bassist fill in with us as well for Mr. Moore and Jack as well. Both were fantastic!
The Fourth was SAHWEEEEET!! The event was sold out PLUS more tickets were sold! Unreal! Loved the crowd, the 180 degree view of fireworks throughout the lowcountry. We had a great time and look forward to doing that one again next year. If you missed it, you missed one of the best lowcountry events of the year. Please take the time to check out the Friends of Santa page and make sure you get your tickets early as it will sell out too! What a BLAST each and every year. The Sand Dunes Club on Sullivans is one of my favorite places to play due to the people we play for there. Everyone is so nice and we ALWAYS have a ball there. You never know what's going to happen there and add in the Frinds of Santa; now you got yourself a PARTY! Join US!

Check out the rest of the August schedule as there will be several open performances here in the Mt Pleasant area.

Until then......... "Lets put 10 pounds of Party in that 5 pound bag!"

THIS WEEK!

HEY PARTIERS!!!

This Friday we will be playing in Aiken SC for the Lobster races! When we first booked this, I thought Jack had lost his mind and worse, he may have been coming down with a strange low country version cross of dyslexia and lunacy! BUT WAIT.....it's true! We are playing for the Lobster Race Festival. From what I hear, this is a HUGE deal and I cannot wait to do this one. It just sounds like a lot of fun to me! Our first show is 8:30PM-9:30PM and the second show is 10:00PM-11:00 PM. We would like for ALL partiers in the area to come out and have a ball with us. Our guitarist and partner, Mike Shuler will not be with us unfortunately. He is stuck in Japan working and trying to help that bunch land some airplanes!! LOL We have replaced him on this event with Mr. Jeff Grimes. He was the illustrious guitarist and vocalist with the EMBERS for 12 years and a member of not only the Beach Music Hall of Fame, but South Carolina's Hall of Fame too. He will be burning it down for Mike and if you haven't seen Jeff play in awhile, now's your time to see him with the Low country's best band: THE EAST COAST PARTY BAND! Thats right...................you guessed it.................... We will be putting 10 pounds of party in a 5 pound bag!

Bridge Run and Condon/Bond Wedding

You know, we got up REALLY freaking early for the 2010 Bridge Run!!! Not normal for musicians for sure. We all were there, more or less, by 7:00AM and it was as cold as a welldiggers butt (not that I would know about that ). We took the stage and played until right around noon for a little over 30,000 people. Outside of the cold, it was GREAT! We had a good time and saw lots of people we knew. Some even came to the event just to see us. (go figure) I saw a friend of mine I haven't seen in 12 years and surprised me so that I almost forgot her name (still pretty as ever ) OK........ so we had lunch afterwards and headed to Jack's house and had a short but great vocal rehearsal. I love those. It is so nice to hear the quality and amount of voices we have in the group at their best........ acapella!
We took off for the Carolina Yacht Club downtown and it was another great performance. We have never sounded as good as we sound now, especially in that room. Mike Cook is just an amazing engineer and we could not be happier with Mike for all he does and all of his expertise! Unbelievable!
We would like to extend our congratulations to the married couple and to both the Bonds and the Condons for such a wonderful evening. Thats the way a wedding reception should be done!

Everyone look out for April 10th at the new Sea Ray Dealership. Rick Hall has moved Sea Ray of Mt Pleasant to the new location on Daniel Island. It is going to be tremendous! That is an unreal facility and the Hall Marine Group is truly first class. We will be there playing from 1-4 in the afternoon. Come join us there. If you are looking for a boat, they will have EXACTLY what you need. I think Rick may have something up his sleeve. It's about time for Jack to get a new boat.....hmmmmmm......maybe he has what JACK wants.....right there! Maybe they have what YOU want....right there!!
Let's put 10 pounds of party in a 5 pound bag April 10th!

Stilletto Ball and East Cooper Hospital Dedication

Hey folks,

The party was on last thursday for the Stilletto Ball. Everything was kinda wet under the new Pavillion at Patriots Point and it was a little chilly too! We had a great time until the wind and rain decided to blow through the party! Great seeing everyone and meeting new party people too.

The East Cooper Hospital dedication was unreal! What a great facility. All of the folks there treated us great and we were able to meet with and see all kinds of new people as a bonus. Kids going crazy, adults trying to keep up, Party Band music, Community Band music, School singers, dancers and of course, all of the carnival assortments! Thanks to all those who came out and look forward to seeing everyone Friday at the big Oyster Roast on Sullivans Island.

OK....SO......this may be something strange for some of you and maybe something that is way cool for some as well. The advent of the smartphone has just taken over the cell phone market and the way we all do business these days. The largest of those smartphone companies happens to be Research in Motion. RIM makes all of the Blackberry devices. NO......... we do not have a Party Band Smartphone, but we are developing a variety of themes for the various Blackberry models. We are doing this for you, our people, at no cost to you and within a few weeks, there will be a download page for you to click on and download as many of them as you would like. So now you can take the Party Band on your personal phone where ever you go. We will have an exclusive theme for each band member and for all of you aspiring tech guys and girls, there will be a Mike Cook "Cookie" theme available for you as well. We hope you all will embrace this and have fun with us! Show it off, pass along the info and get more people hip to who we are and what we do! As usual........keep putting 10 pounds of party in that 5 pound bag y'all!

Leukemia Ball

Hey Party people,

The Leukemia Ball this past Saturday was just spectacular. Those folks at the Leukemia Society really know how to put on a party. The food was just wonderful, everyone was dressed so well and our rehearsing really paid off. I am convinced that when good people get together, good things happen; and they did. Our crew did an awesome job getting our staging done and we had a guest Lighting Designer, Andrea, come and work with us Saturday night. I can't say enough about our support staff. We are only a good group by ourselves but with all of those guys, we can really turn it on. (no pun intended) It was so nice to have all of the elements working nicely. Our group really is about a few things: Entertainment, Family, Fun and Music. Come join us at our public shows this year and if any of you are having a party, getting married or any other special occasion, contact us through the site and we would be happy to play for you too.

We have Been rehearsing

Hello Everyone;

The Party Band has had a very busy winter respite and we are gearing up for the Spring. Rehearsals are an interesting thing. Everyone rehearses so differently and it is quite the trick to meld everyone's ideas into a final piece ready for performance. We break the group into different entities and sub-rehearse, then put things together a little at a time. Of course, there is much preparation put into the rehearsal prior to even getting to the rehearsal! After getting there we have to reconcile the individual hearings and produce the tune as our own project. Below, I have a brief portion of the group at rehearsal where we are building a particular vocal section. We thought you might enjoy seeing a glimpse of a vocal rehearsal with the Party Band. See you Saturday at the Leukemia Ball!

Winter Prep

OK.....so you may have noticed we aren't playing alot these days. Thats OK......... we of course would like to be working, but then again current unemployment percentages here in South Carolina are around 10%. I think the economy is picking up, at least for us, but it sure hasn't been very kind to us as a band over the past few months. Our 2010 is looking good but this is still a down time for us. So I bet you are thinking......"The guys are just laying low and hanging out being lazy". If you think that, you could not be further from the truth. We are hard at work preparing new video's for the multi-media page, preparing arrangements and composing tunes for a new CD and we just had a 7 hour rehearsal this past Saturday as we are learning ALOT of new tunes for our new "live" show that we will premiere in the spring. We have several more rehearsals to go and a bunch more tunes! I think you guys are going to love the new tunes as well as our presentation of them. There's some really good songs that are classics, some that border on the funny (watch out for Mu....he will deliver those as only he can do) and there are some really nice "showy" tunes for the band as well. Check out our schedule and don't forget........ We love to put 10 pounds of party in a 5 pound bag!

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY!

WOW! Is all I can say about the New Year's Eve Party at the Landing! 1500 people in, out and having a ball with Uncle Mingo, The Secrets and of course, The East Coast Party Band. We took the stage around 11:15 and played until 1:20. I have never seen that many people in one place and that packed into a place in all of the time I have played with this group. Brought back alot of memories from another life!!
OK........So it was great and everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to the new year and we have some new things to talk about. We will be putting together a new musical show for the spring, new music, new everything......... we are beginning to work on a new recording project and that should be alot of fun to work on as well as be able to share with all of our Party Peeps! Keep checking the Multi-Media tab on the website as we are going to be adding new "live" video weekly. Let us know what you think. One thing we want to do and it involves all of you. We want you guys to respond to us either via the blog or the guestbook and tell us ONE (1) song that you think we should record. The song with the most amount of votes will appear on our new project. One disclaimer: We ARE NOT recording "FreeBird", "Old Time Rock and Roll" or anything that doesn't fit our moral or playlist stature..........so 2 Live Crew is out along with T-Pain!! This is bad news for Jason (MU) as he is a HUGE 2 Live and T-Pain fanatic! You can look at him and tell.

Thanks for being our crowd...........you are definitely a part of the IN-CROWD!

Merry Christmas

Hey All You Party People!

Been awhile since we've convened on the blog paper but my guest blogger hasn't taken over as of yet! LOL He will and it will be on! I wanted to write in to wish everyone a very safe and Merry Christmas. Make sure you have tickets to the New Years Eve Celebration on Shem Creek this year. Gonna be serious! During this time of year we in the group tend to reflect back on the year and recall the great times we had. We all participate in the Party Band for many reasons. One of which we genuinely like each other! This is our second family. We think of each other that way and act accordingly. Each member fills a special place in the other's life and so in reality, this group is more than just a business, an artistic outlet or something to do in our spare time. I have never experienced this level of "family" in any other group I have ever been associated with in my performing career.

I wanted to take this opportunity to let each person who reads this know that this group IS special in many respects. I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize everyone in our organization. They have meant the world to me over the past 2 years and all I have/am going through. There is no words to express how I truly feel, but I think they know! Below is our organization from top to bottom:

Jack Tankersley- Bass, Managing Partner/Owner
Beverly Tankersley- Vocals
Mike Shuler- Guitar, Partner/Owner
David Fuller- Keys, Vocals
Jerry Polk- Drums, Vocals
Joel Reese- Trumpet, Vocals
Jim Moore- Guitar, Vocals
Jason Moore- Keys, Saxophone, Vocals
Mike Cook- Sound Engineer
Jim Hall- Assistant Sound Engineer, Logistics Director
Jared Houck- Lighting Director
John P. Tankersley- Logistics Group, Assistant Lighting Technician
Charles McKelvey- Logistics Group, Lighting Technician
John Frutchey- Logisitics Group, Assistant Logistics Director
John Kitchener- Lighting Technician
Ed Glowka- Logistics Group
Our Member in Memorial: Gerald Polk- Keys, Trombone, Vocals
Mark Black- Saxophone, Keys, Vocals, Musical Director

Batesburg SC and the need for heaters on stage

OK...... we show up in Batesburg and it is freezin' freakin' cold!!!! The opening act was Brent Lundy and his group. They played well and sounded wonderful. Of course, when you have Mike Cook mixing for you, such as the party band has EVERY night, you get that big-boy sound!!
They were very versatile in their musical selections and were nice guys one and all. I highly recommend seeing them if you have an opportunity.
The ECPB went on stage next and we did great. It was cold, we were bundled up and put it on. You know it's a COLD sign when the folks putting on the FALL FESTIVAL had TWO bonfires going!! That, my friends, says it all. We had a great time and enjoyed meeting and talking with those who were there to party. We need to rethink our stage in that we need HUGE commercial heaters to keep us warm!! It took until wednesday for my fingers to quit hurting. OK...no more bellyaching.....just Party Band Partying!
Keep putting that 10 pounds of party in the 5 pound bag.....and make sure all of your friends know about the website, and sign up for the email list as well.

A Taste of Charleston and B E Y O N D

Hello Everybody,

We had a wonderful time at the Taste of Charleston this past Sunday. There were lots of food booths, fun events and of course great music by the ECPB. We were fortunate enough to be able to get great high definition video and a really good audio feed simultaneously. Keep a close watch over the next month or so for LOTS of video from not only the Taste of Charleston but also the Kiawah Polo Match event as well. Something I have wanted to do for some time now is to thank those folks that are on our payroll that are the unsung guys who set up, tear down and keep things going. With out these fellows, we could not entertain and perform to our best ability each and every event. If and when you come to see us, look for these guys: The BEST SOUND ENGINEER ON THE PLANET..... MIKE COOK, Our Logistics Director and Assistant Sound Engineer JIM HALL, Our Lighting Engineer Jared Houck, Transportation Director John "Frenchy" Frutchey, Stage Manager John P Tankersley, and our Spotlight, Lighting Technician and Stage Executive Charles McKelvey.

Join us this Sunday in Batesburg for their town festival. Consult our WebCalendar for specifics. We would love to see everyone there!!

Who's Talking Back?

OK....Who here know the East Coast Party Band is a for real soul band that plays all kinds of music and specializes in Beach Music? Well...... we are a SOUL Band that plays all kinds of music and we do specialize in Beach Music. You know.....Beach Music is the official music of the State of South Carolina and the associated dance, the SHAG, is the official dance of the state as well. Now with all of that said, it's a little strange for me to report an alarming statistic to you fellow "partiers". The statistic is this: Of the top five cities identified by the people checking out and enjoying our website,....are you ready?..........FOUR ARE NOT FROM THE EAST COAST and THREE ARE NOT FROM THIS COUNTRY!!!!
Our top five cities identified are as follows:

1. Shenzhen, China
2. San Diego, California
3. Walterboro, SC
4. Tokyo, Japan
5. Beijing, China

OK....... what do you see WRONG or RIGHT with this picture? I have a few comments to make about this.
The first thing to say is that we are SO glad there are people all over this world enjoying our site, our music and maybe one day we could hope to get to play for those people in person. The power of modern media is just enormous and I would have never imagined Beach Music being heard, enjoyed and transmitted across so many boundarys. We in the band would like to thank ALL of our international friends for chiming in with us and hope we continue to be interesting to you. We should have some new music soon and maybe that will help you guys really "live" the Beach Music mindset.
For all of our Stateside friends........we got some work to do!! You guys need to evangelize this thing and let's get something happening in the streets for sure!
You know, we love to have fun, play/listen to good music, and love to make people happy. Beach Music is a free-spirit, dancing, happy music that originated here in the Carolina's. It's up to us to spread it and translate the truth about the lifestyle via our music. Tell everyone you know and join us as much as you can!
We love each one of you and want to meet and spend time with you all if possible. Thats who WE really are here in the ECPB.
Until the next time........ keep putting that 10 pounds of party in that 5 pound bag!

Well...... we are a SOUL Band that plays all kinds of music and we do specialize in Beach Music. You know.....Beach Music is the official music of the State of South Carolina and the associated dance, the SHAG, is the official dance of the state as well. Now with all of that said, it's a little strange for me to report an alarming statistic to you fellow "partiers".
Kiawah Polo Match and Party

Hey Party People!

We played Sunday night immediately after a polo match on Kiawah Island. Absolutely picturesque and we such a great time. All of the folks at the Club were extremely nice and really put on a big spread for all of the guests. The match was entertaining, even though Kiawah lost, it was still alot of fun to watch and enjoy. The weather was gorgeous and one couldn't ask for a better time, place or crowd to play for. Check out the pictures on our site and you'll know visually why it was so much fun. Stay tuned, lots of new things in store!
